BMCU offers Graduate Degrees at the Master’s level:

  • Master of Education in Elementary Education, K-6
  • Master of Education - Literacy/Reading, K-12
  • Master of Education - Biology, K-12
  • Master of Business Administration
  • Master of Science in Kinesiology  

Graduate Admission Requirements

General Policy
     The Blue Mountain Christian University Graduate Council admits students to the graduate program. Applicants for admission to graduate study must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited educational institution. Admission may be granted in one of the following categories: regular, provisional, or non-degree. Even though one may be accepted as a graduate student, the applicant may be required to take additional undergraduate courses if lacking any of the undergraduate prerequisites. 

Requirements for Admissions to All BMCU Graduate Programs
     Each applicant for admission to the graduate program at BMCU must file the following with the Office of Graduate and Continuing Education:

1.) Application (Graduate application)

2.) Transcripts. Official transcript of all coursework for the baccalaureate degree and any transferable graduate credit from an accredited higher educational institution mailed to the Office of Graduate and Continuing Education. Student copes are not acceptable. Transcripts from international institutions must be reviewed by the credential evaluation service before application for admission is considered.

  • Supplementary transcript covering work in progress at the time of application and any late work (if applicable) must be furnished as soon as possible
  • 400-500-word essay explaining your reasons for pursuing a master's degree, emailed to graduate@275175.com.
  • Copy of the applicant's current teaching certificate
  • PRAXIS, GRE, or MAT score
  • TOEFL scores reported (required: a minimum score of 550). This requirement applies only to students whose native language in not English.

Master of Education

Additional Requirements for Admission to the Graduate Programs in Education

In addition to the requirements listed above, the applicant for admission to the graduate program in education at BMCU must file with the Office of Education the Following: ​

1.) Licensure. All applicants must provide a photocopy of their initial level teaching certification issued by the state in which they are certified (with explanatory codes included).

2.) Standardized Test Score. Acceptable scores on the Praxis II, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogy Test (MAT). 

3.) Scholarships. Scholarships are available to students in the Masters of Education programs. (Graduate Scholarships)

Master of Business Administration

Additional Requirements for Admissions to the Master of Business Administration

In addition to the requirements listed above, the applicant for admission to the Master of Business Administration program must file with the Dean of Business the Following:

1.) Prerequisites. 

  • Students entering the MBA Program must have completed at least one course in each of the following areas with a grade of "C" or better: accounting, economics, and college level mathematics.
  • GPA. A 2.50 or higher GPA in the undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution. Applicants with a GPA below 2.50 or an undergraduate degree from a non-regionally accredited institution may be considered for conditional admission at the discretion of the Dean of Business.

2.) Standardized Test Scores. Students with conditional admission will be required to submit scores on the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

3.) Interview. Satisfactory personal interview (when required) with the Dean of Business.

4.) Essay. Biographical sketch of at least 300 words that outlines work experience and reasons for pursuing graduate studies at Blue Mountain College.

5.) Oral and Written Skills. Acceptable oral and written skills must be demonstrated.

Master of Science in Kinesiology

Additional Requirements for Admissions to the Master of Science in Kinesiology

In addition to the general requirements listed above, the applicant for admission to the Master of Science in Kinesiology program must meet the following requirements.

1.) Prerequisites for Exercise Science. 

  • Eight (8) credit hours of upper-level biology.
  • Three (3) or more hours of college level mathematics (algebra, statistics, or upper-level college mathematics).
  • Six (6) credit hours of upper-level exercise science. 

2.) Prerequisites for Sport Management. 

  • Six (6) credit hours of upper-level sport management, or related courses.
  • Three (3) or more hours of college level mathematics (algebra, statistics, or upper-level college mathematics).
  • Six (6) credit hours of business/leadership or related courses.

3.) Baccalaureate Degree. A baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited regionally with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Applications with a degree from a non-accredited institution will be considered individually, and validating additional undergraduate course work or examinations may be required. 

4.) Applicants with a GPA below 3.0. Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 may be considered for conditional admission at the discretion of the chair of the Department of Kinesiology. Consideration may require the applicant to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and have scores sent to Blue Mountain Christian University. 

5.) Personal Interview. Satisfactory personal interview (when required) with the chair of the Department of Kinesiology. Acceptable oral and written skills must be demonstrated with the personal interview and biographical sketch.
